49th Parallel Dance Company was originally founded in 2010 by colleagues  Ariana Champlin and Carolyn Schmidt, operating out of the US and Cananda. Since 2015 the company is solely based in NYC and Directed by Ariana Champlin. Through their choreographic work , the company continues to evolve and expand within their creation process, committing themselves to pushing their own artistry by working with various artists in dance, music and visual entities from around the globe.Together with their mission to cross boundaries geographically and artistically, they continue to present work that is accessible to the broader audience, proving that dance continues to be a valuable art form for all walks of life and an accessible mode of communication and expression.Their dances have been seen at Dumbo Dance Festival (NYC), Young Choreographers Festival (NYC), Feats Festival of Dance (Edmonton, AB), Manhattan Movement and Arts Center (NYC), Dancer’s Studio West (Calgary, AB), Vancouver Fringe Festival (Vancouver, BC), the Saco River Theatre (Buxton, ME) and the Queensboro Dance Festival (Queens, NYC).


Ariana Champlin

Ariana Champlin was born and raised in the state of Maine. She began her training with Scottish Highland Dance and Flamenco, performing with the Highland Soles throughout New England. She broadened her training at the Bates Dance Festival in Maine, the Laban Center in London, and at the Ailey School in New York City, where she graduated  from their prestigious Certificate Program in 2009. A member of the Alvin Ailey Student Performance Group, Arianahas also trained and performed in Burgos Spain, under the direction of Kazuko Hirabayashi. More recently, she has worked with established choreographers, such as Nicole Wolcott and Derek Mitchell, in the creation and production of performances in the greater New York area.

In 2010, Ariana co-founded 49th Parallel Dance Company with colleague Carolyn Schimdt, to connect USA and Canadian dance communities through the creation and presentation of works on both sides of the border. Ariana’s Choreography has been presented at venues such as Green Space Festival (Queens, NYC), The QAS at Webster Hall (NYC), Feats Festival of Dance (Edmonton, AB), Dancers Studio West (Calgary, AB), Manhattan Movement and Arts Center (NYC), Vancouver Fringe Festival (Vancouver, BC), the Queensboro Dance Festival (Queens, NYC), and the Saco River Theatre (Buxton, ME). As an educator of dance, Arianahas taught both modern and contemporary techniques in New York, New England, Vancouver and Calgary. She is currently in the process of choreographing a new piece for the 49th Parallel dancers in NYC, and looks forward to collaborating and performing with new artists from all over the globe.

Amanda Tay

Born and raised in Singapore, Amanda began her dance training under a full-time scholarship at Dance Circle Studios in 2007. Amanda is trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip-hop, salsa, Latin ballroom, and flamenco. Amanda graduated magma cum laude with a BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase in May 2012. Amanda has performed at numerous Dance Festivals in Singapore, China and New York , and at prestigious events such as the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, New York Fashion Week 2014 and at the Mets Stadium in 2014. Just over the past few years in New York City, Amanda has worked with YungLi Dance Company, 49th Parallel Dance Company, human kinetics movement arts, HeidiDance Company and Megan Lynn/Asterial Dance. Amanda is a certified GYROTONIC® Pre-trainer and GYROKINESIS® trainer.

Reginald Webber Jr.

Rooted in hip-hop and contemporary dance forms, Reginald Webber Jr.’s strengths as an artist lay in the vastness of his training, the power and grace in his movement, and his intense passion for the art of dance. He was accepted into the professional dance program at California State University, Fullerton. He also worked as a dancer and character during the world renowned Block Party Bash dance show and parade at Disney’s California Adventure. Later, He was cast a lead role in The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker with Debbie Allen’s Dance Academy in Los Angeles with actors Raven Simone and Jaleel White. This earned him a scholarship at Debbie Allen’s Dance Academy where he had the honor of training under Debbie Allen herself. While residing in Los Angeles, Reginald has been given the opportunity to train with artists such as Tina Landon, Kathryn McCormick, and Leslie Scott and was cast as a lead dancer in the musical, “Nubiah!”. He also performed at the main stage at West Hollywood Pride opening for global superstar Lil’ Kim. In early 2013, Reginald’s experience landed him a full-time contract with the internationally touring production, Mystic India: The World Tour produced by the award-winning dance company, AATMA Performing Arts. While having performed over 250 shows with Mystic India:The World Tour, Reginald is able to combine the Bollywood and traditional Indian folk dance techniques he learned through choreographers Amit Shah and Kruti Shah with his expertise in western disciplines. He also served as a guest contemporary teacher at the AATMA Performing Arts dance school and performed with artists like Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, superstars in the world of Bollywood music. Currently, Reginald resides in New York City, where he continues to thrive and seek opportunities in the world of dance and performing arts.

 Brian Castillo

Hailing from Northern Jersey, Brian has always had an eye for art, from drawing to photography and cinema. After graduating from Penn State with degrees in Film and Spanish he made the move across the Hudson to NYC, where he finally discovered his love of dance. Since 2012 he has been performing with toUch Performance Art and 49th Parallel Dance Company throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Maine. Brian was also recently featured in Mary John Frank’s immersive show, Debutaunt, at the Kings County Distillery.  Some of Brian’s greatest moments have been dancing in works by his mentors Brice Mousset and Mike Esperanza and he has also had the privilege of performing with E|N|Z|A and The People Movers. He is so thankful to be able to live in this amazing city and work alongside such beautiful artists.

Jaisson Restrepo

Born and raised at Medellin, Colombia, where he danced in several public and private events such as musicals, the full contemporary season with “H3” Dance Company, commercials, and the yearly performance of multiple dance academies where he worked as a dance teacher. He graduated in dance from Universidad de Antioquia in 2012. He was dancer at “Elements” Urban Dance and “H3” Contemporary Dance (at Medellin). Jaisson moved to NYC in 2014 to grow farther as a dancer and as artist. Since his move he has been performing with different dance companies such as, 49th Parallel Dance Company, Vivake Dance Company and Kalamandir Dance Company. Jaisson continues to explore his education as dancer through performance, classes and and the talented artists he works with along the way.
