New York City is the dance capital of the world. People come from all over to perform and show their work here. Unfortunately the price of presenting work – renting space, hiring dancers and staff, rehearsing, booking a theatre, running a production, documenting the performance, and paying the bills – is often insurmountable. Most companies either self-present or participate in production platforms that leave them on the verge of poverty. This is where THE SERIES comes in.
Each dance company that has been selected to participate in THE SERIES is treated as an equal business partner. We coordinate and contract the theatre space and staff, the artists create their work, and then we all come together to put on a great show. At the end of the night we split the profits equally amongst ourselves. While we may not become rich off of this model, we will all be able to recoup our investments and walk away from the experience with a smile on our faces and satisfaction in our hearts. Best of all, we pool our resources to push each other onto the next level!
Fair play, support, artistic cultivation, and common decency. We hope to spread the ideal of this formula: that artists should be respected as equal partners when showing their work & supported in pursuit of their artistry. We invite you to collaborate with us in creating this beautiful concert.
